Winters and Delhi have the most beautiful love affair. Delhi blooms in this season. I envy those living in the Capital at this time.
Delhi is also steeped in history, there is so much of back story that this city has. The best thing to do therefore during the winter is to go heritage hopping.
There are organized walks, depending on your area of interest or you could draw up your own itinerary and head out.
The walks that you should cover are:
Dilli 6 or Purani Dilli
This in itself should be spread over a 2 to 3 day walk. Covering the Jama Masjid, Red Fort, the bylanes of Chandni Chowk and so much more to explore, you will be transported into another world completely!!
Go explore another face of Delhi. Edward Lutyen’s New Delhi. From the iconic India Gate to the Majestic Rashtrapati Bhavan, from Connaught Place to Jan Path. This part of Delhi is a must visit to soak in the modern history of the city.
Delhi by night has as much to offer as it has by day. There are food trails that take you through Shajahanabad and the cover iconic kebab shops, the Parathewali Gali and even the famous Moti Mahal. Then there are walks that take you ghost hunting, Delhi has been a hotspot for the paranormal, so if that is your thing then give it a go. You could explore Nizzamuddin Basti and soak in the qawalli there. The options are too many to list down!!
While on a Heritage Walk, make sure you have your essentials like water, scarf, some snacks and your camera all kept in a sturdy bag.
