Children these days are in dire of need of fitness and exercise. It is not an uncommon sight to see kids stuck to their I Pads playing games or watching videos hours and hours at a go. This is not only making them a couch potato but also diminishing their interest in any other activity.
Fitness needs to be inculcated from the grass root level. Kids nowadays hardly do any outdoor activities, here are some ways that you and your child can enjoy the outdoors and get fit at the same time!
Don’t make it a chore by forcing them to do it. Do fun activities, whatever they choose. They could want to run around the park, you accompany them along. If they love the water, take them to the pool. If they love playing ball, introduce them to soccer.
Schedule outdoor play dates with other children. You could organize picnics at a public park. Take frisbees, badminton rackets, balls and lets the kids have a great time!
Encourage walking. You don’t need to take the car to cover short distances. Take a nice stroll to your destination this will give you bonding time with your child too.
Be a role model to your child. Let them see you do your morning yoga or evening walks. Get them to participate with you.
Discourage eating too much junk food when you go out. Teach them the value of eating healthy and structure your home meals in that manner too.
When you decide to gift your child something, make it fitness oriented. You could get them new sneakers, jumping ropes, hula hoops, skates or even a new bag to stash their workout/outdoor play necessities!
